Hello! My name is Sara. This is my first year in college I graduated from Holy Family High School, right here in Glendale last year. However this is my first semester at GCC I took a course- social science during the winter. My major is Native American studies with a minor in history. Before GCC I attended L.A Mission in Sylmar during the summer and fall semester. At L.A Mission I played soccer which I have played since I was four and will continue to play here at GCC and where ever I transfer to. I intend to play professional soccer whether it is the WUSA- that's the women's professional soccer league or the Women's National Soccer team in the United States or I will go outside of the country to Australia or Mexcio to play soccer. It doesn't matter where I live just as long as I am playing soccer.

nice focus

Hi Sara,

Woman's Soccer -- interesting and great. I wish you well and I'm sure I'll have more to include when I'm out of the confines of class.

nice to meet you...

Hi Sara. Soccer is such a cool sport, and thats great that you are so into it. I used to play when I was younger, but it was scarry to have flying soccer balls comming at me. Anyway, Native American studies sounds interesting along with history. Good luck!

Thanks for coming to my blog...and hello!

We are both freshman! Thank you for your comments on my blog. I will pray for your friend.
I coached my son's pee-wee soccer league, it was hilarious because they were 4 and 5 year-olds and they would all just mob the ball like a big blob running down the field. It was a major victory when I taught them to spread out and pass the ball. My only qualification for coaching soccer was that I played in Grammar school. When I was in Grammar school-and dinosaurs roamed the earth-:-) Nobody played soccer and especially girls didn't play sports with boys, but I wanted to play and I was probably one of the first girls to play the sport in this country. I was never a great player, but I tried hard.
It's awesome that you are so determined.

Re: Thanks for coming to my blog...and hello!

that's cool that you coached your son's soccer team. I have coached both boys and girls ranging from the ages five to sixteen. With the little girls me and four of my friends coached them. It was fun watching them chase after the ball and give that confused look when you try to teach them the basics. The best part is teaching the girls and boys soccer hoping they will feel the same way about the sport like I do.

Hello

Hi
It's so great that you like soccer, I am trying to persuade my eight your old to get involved in soccer any suggestions? it would probably help if I could play myself but my attempts were pretty sad, I am also intrigued that you are taking a major in Native american studies, I wonder what inspired you to choose that? One of the first things I did on arriving to the u.s was to go to a pow wow in Ojai many moons ago. At thanksgiving my kindergardners learned to sing a Navaho song which was so beautiful to hear and see. It is such a beautiful and fascinating culture, Have fun with it!

excellence

Welcome to GCC!
I hope that your commitment to soccer and education leads you to a life fulfilled. Native American studies and history seem to go hand in hand as disciplines. Do you plan on teaching what you learn? Or would you like to study it for personal growth and interest? I ask this b/c soccer may only go as far as your body takes you, but your mind will always be there for you. (as I'm sure you know) I often wonder what Mia Ham plans on doing now that her illustrious career as a player is over.
I look forward to learning with you this term.

Mike

that is incredible that u have been playing soccer for since you were 4 years old. Its great that you have the determination and the ability to have time and focus on what your doing. I played 2 sports for 4 years. Water polo and swimming and i can say it was really tough just dealing 4 years of it, its incredible to see someone focus on a sport for that long. I give you props.:)
